Top Dressing
With the warmer days and rain that we are receiving, lawn top dressing now is important to enrich your lawns health with a nutrient rich sand and soil blend. Which not only fills the uneven levels in your lawn but will boost your lawns health and well-being, with a cocktail of extra nutrition for your lawn. Top Dressing should be done at least once a year, twice would be ideal. It is generally performed after a renovation or aeration of your lawn. Remember when you are top dressing your lawn to leave your leaf tips exposed. If you have large hollows in your lawn, it is better to bring it up to height in 1cm increments so that we don’t smother and kill the turf.
Depending on your soils composition we will recommend to use either a washed pit sand or course river sand or our “Nitro” blend that consists of approximately 75% Sand and 25 % screened organics (Manure)etc.
Fertilising
Fertilising is also an integral part of your lawns health, by fertilising every 6 to 8 weeks you will have the green grass that you would love to play ball on with your children. To achieve the best results you should fertilise every 6 weeks. Alternating with a slow release granular fertiliser and then a liquid fertiliser, such as seasol to achieve the green grass that we all desire.
The key to having that enviable green patch is a combination of lawn maintenances, including aeration, usually hollow core aeration, scarifying also known as dethatching to remove dead under layers, and a maintenance program of pest and weed management.
