Lawn Care
It is never too late to be thinking about lawn care and giving your grass that once over before all of the relatives come to visit for the holidays.
That game of cricket or soccer on a patchy lawn would be made that much easier if it was a beautifully green and luscious grass, it will make those tackles to the ground so much softer.
We would recommend to start off with Dethatching of the lawn which is removing the cobwebs if you like, that the lawn have made into a layer on the soils surface which prevents the roots of the grass to grow long and strong into the ground. We then increase the microbial count in the turf to help break this thatch down naturally in the future, with our choice of fertiliser. Not all lawns will require this so this may not apply to you.
Aeration of the lawn would be highly recommended for your lawn rejuvenation, this not only will help with water and nutrients getting to the roots of your grass system but will also help with breaking up your soil to make it softer for playing on.
Top dressing of your lawn then gives it that extra boost of nutrients and helps even out the areas that might not be level as well as helping your seeds germinate easier if you choose to re seed.
Fertilising and weed management is recommended during this period to help the grass grow stronger and encourage the root system to go down deeper and spread laterally after the aeration. If you have areas that are sparse or patchy, seeding or over seeding is a great course of action here and is best done with the combination of the aeration and the fertilising to give the seed the best chance to germinate.
We recommend a slow release fertiliser that is capable of feeding for up to 10 weeks, in conjunction with a pre-emergent herbicide. Remember once the weeds are up we must treat them with a post-emergent herbicide that is safe for use on your lawn.
